This course focuses on the Family Talk Intervention (FTI) in pediatric oncology, specifically examining ill children's perspectives on its feasibility and potential effects. The course will cover the goals of the FTI process, including facilitating communication among ill children and their families, addressing concerns about illness and future events, and enhancing understanding within families. Participants will learn about the structure of the FTI process, including the specific goals of each meeting held during the intervention. Additionally, the course will summarize the findings from the Swedish study group, highlighting the potential benefits and limitations of the FTI, such as increased understanding but decreased communication among participating families. This activity is designed to provide healthcare professionals with insights into the FTI process and its relevance in pediatric oncology, ultimately aiming to improve communication and support for ill children and their families.
